Aluminum heat sink design

Heat sinks are often made of aluminum, a cooling metal that is easier to shape into heat sink application profiles, than copper. It is also easier to create custom aluminum heat sink profile variations.

Shaped as a fin, profiles can easily be attached to a copper base, conducting a large amount of thermal energy to the lighter, less expensive aluminum alloy cooling fins.
