Berg has been at the Husnes aluminium plant four years, including the upgrade and restart of the B-line and returning the plant to full capacity.

Before coming to Husnes in 2017, Berg has held several senior operational management roles, including as Head of Asset Management in Hydro's Aluminium Metal business. Between 2000 and 2015, Berg worked for Elkem and Alcoa in various management positions in operations, technology, strategy and sales in Norway, Canada, the U.S. and Iceland.

Berg holds an MSc in Metallurgical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and an Executive MBA from University of Pittsburgh in the U.S.

Johan Berg will commence his new role on July 1, 2021, reporting to Qatalum CEO Khalid Mohammed Laram. The process to find Berg’s successor as plant manager at Husnes has been initiated.
